How it works

1. Create an order

Simply select your Town & City Gift Cards and values. You can choose multiple programs and values, but it’s not possible to mix physical and digital (e-card) Town & City Gift Cards in one order. For delivery direct to your people via email, choose the digital e-card option. Physical Gift Cards can be delivered to you by post, for distribution to your people. If it is your first Town & City Gift Cards order, please create an account first for easy order management.

2. Pick your payment option

You can place an order and pay online with your credit or debit card. Alternatively you can opt for an invoice. Our online invoicing team will make sure your invoice is issued straight away. If you haven't received your invoice please contact us at: support@mi-cnx.com. Please add orders@townandcitygiftcards.com to your safe senders to make sure your invoice is received. Please note, we do not offer credit terms.

3. Delivery

If you’ve chosen digital e-cards, you’ll be asked to upload recipient details by CSV, choosing a date and time for delivery via email. If you’ve chosen physical Gift Cards, we’ll post your cards to you. There are a range of delivery options for you to choose from to ensure your Town & City Gift Cards arrive when you need them. We recommend that you select Express Delivery as this will provide you with a tracking number.

4. Gift

If you’ve chosen digital e-cards, your recipients will receive an email with an activation code and instructions to download the Love Local app, create an account and add their e-card to their digital wallet. Activation codes expire after 3 months. If you’ve chosen physical Gift Cards, any order over £500 is locked for security. Once your Town & City Gift Cards arrive, please let us know and we will activate your cards, ready to gift to your people.

How do I place an order?

You can place an order via this website. If you would like to speak to someone prior to ordering then please call us on 01738 444376 or email us at support@mi-cnx.com. Before placing your first order you will need to create an account.

How secure is my order when being shipped?

If your order is over £500 your cards are locked and inactive for security purposes. When your cards are received please contact us prior to gifting so these can be unlocked and activated ready for you to gift. You will need your order number to hand to be able to complete this process. Please contact supportuk@mi-cnx.com or call 01738 444376 for activation and any queries relating to your order.

What is a Town and City Gift Card?

A Town & City Gift Card is the ultimate ‘shop local’ Gift Card. When you purchase a Town & City Gift Card, you’re making an investment in your community because cards have to be spent with local businesses. And, the more cards are purchased, the more spend it delivers for local businesses. Town & City Gift Cards are multi-store, prepaid Mastercards branded to a specific town or city, which can be redeemed with registered businesses, using the Mastercard network.

Where can I spend a Town and City Gift Card?

You can spend a Town and City gift card at any of the participating businesses that have registered to be part of their local gift card programme. To find out more visit www.townandcitygiftcards.com

Can I order physical and digital (e-cards) within one order?

Due to differing delivery requirements for physical and digital Town & City Gift Cards, it isn’t possible to order physical and digital e-cards within one order. If you need both physical and digital Town & City Gift Cards, please place two separate orders.

Can I change my digital Town & City Gift Card recipients?

Once you’ve placed your order, you can upload a CSV file with details of your digital Town & City Gift Card recipients. Please take care to ensure this information is correct, as changes can’t be made to recipients once the Gift Cards have been sent.

How do recipients activate their digital Town & City Gift Card?

Once you’ve sent your digital Town & City Gift Cards to your chosen recipients, they’ll receive an email with instructions on how to download the Love Local app, create an account and add their Gift Card to their digital wallet using an activation code. The activation code expires after 3 months, so please encourage your recipients to activate their Gift Card as soon as they receive it.

Do recipients have to use a specific email to activate their digital Town & City Gift Card?

Any email address can be used to activate a digital Town & City Gift Card, as long as the recipient has the activation code. This means that if a recipient receives the digital Gift Card email to their work email, they can use their personal email address to register their Love Local account and add their card to their digital wallet, if they wish to.

How long does it take to receive and ship an order?

If you order via Invoice we will start to process your order as soon as we have received payment from you. If you have paid by card your order will start to be processed the next working day once funds have cleared. If you haven't received your invoice please contact us at support@mi-cnx.com as it should be received within 10 minutes of placing your order. Add orders@townandcitygiftcards.com to your safe senders to make sure your invoice is received. Orders placed are processed within 5-10 working days of funds being received but if your order is required more quickly than this please get in touch with us and we will do our very best to get your order to you in time.

Can I personalize my order?

You can include a short message with your order that we can print onto the card holders that accompany the gift cards. Unfortunately, we are not able to make these individual messages but if you would like to discuss different options then please get in touch via support@mi-cnx.com or call us on 01738 444376. Digital e-cards can be sent with individual messages up to 250 characters.

What happens if a gift card is lost or stolen?

We do our best to make sure your gift card is received in good condition and with funds, but if it doesn’t we are here to help. Gift Cards are valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Cards cannot be exchanged for cash. Lost or stolen cards will not be compensated. However if you can provide us with the card number then we can lock any lost or stolen cards and transfer the balance remaining to a new card for you. Please note an administration fee may be applicable for this service.

Can I ship to multiple addresses?

If you would like to be able to ship to multiple addresses then we can chat through your requirements. Please get in touch via support@mi-cnx.com or call us on 01738 444376 so we can find a solution that works best for you. Please note additional postage costs will apply. You may find our Digital e-cards might be more suitable for your needs.

Domestic Shipping

For Domestic Shipping we use Royal Mail and Parcel Force as our postal partners. For letters and small packages we ship Royal Mail 2nd class or Special Delivery. For larger parcels we use Parcel Force 48 hour tracked delivery. We recommend that you select Express Shipping so your order is tracked.

What is the Trivial Tax Benefit?

Employers in the area who reward staff with a Town and City Gift Card can take advantage of the UK Trivial Tax Benefits scheme. A business can give an employee a benefit of up to £50 without paying tax, but only if the benefit isn’t in cash, a reward for their work or in the terms of their contract.

Who are Miconex?

Miconex was founded in 2010 and works with towns and cities across the world, helping to support successful local economies. Miconex developed the UK’s first city-wide gift card programme in Perth, Scotland, through its Town and City Gift Cards initiative in 2015. This programme is designed to lock in money locally for participating businesses, drive foot traffic and stimulate economic activity, in effect creating a local currency through the MasterCard network.
